SUMMARY:WomenINvestEU Matchmaking on Sustainability & Climate Tech
DESCRIPTION:WomenINvestEU is inviting entrepreneurs from women-led or women owned  startups with innovative business solutions to apply for its fifth online matchmaking event. This session\, happening on 22 April\, from 10:30 to 12:15  CET\, is a chance to pitch your solution to the experienced\, gender-conscious investors in our network. \n\n\n\nThrough this initiative\, WomenINvestEU aims to channel investment into businesses developing innovative and scalable solutions across key sustainability and climate sectors. The aim is to support technologies and platforms that reduce environmental impact\, accelerate the transition to clean energy\, enhance sustainable food systems\, and enable efficient use of resources through circular practices. \n\n\n\nWe’re looking for businesses under the following categories: \n\n\n\n\nEnvironmental solutions (e.g. energy efficient platforms\, electric transportation)\n\n\n\nClean and renewable energy (e.g. geothermal power replacing fossil fuels\, solar panels)\n\n\n\nAgritech (e.g. sustainable farming solutions)\n\n\n\nDecarbonisation solutions (e.g. carbon capture\, green hydrogen\, solutions for decarbonisation of energy-intensive industries)\n\n\n\nCircular Economy & Resource Efficiency (e.g. recycling and composting systems\, waste-to-energy solutions\, critical raw materials)\n\n\n\n\nSelected participants should be: \n\n\n\n\nwomen-led or have a woman co-founder;\n\n\n\nbased in the European Union;\n\n\n\ncompanies developing disruptive\, impactful solutions with a competitive advantage in the market;\n\n\n\nseed and series A investment stages. \n\n\n\n\nThe evaluation process and preparation for the event will follow the estimated timeline outlined below:  \n\n\n\n\n13 March – Deadline for applications;\n\n\n\n16 to 27 March – Evaluation of the applications;\n\n\n\n30 March – Communication of the call’s results to the selected startups;\n\n\n\n31 March to 17 April – Pitch training sessions with selected startups;\n\n\n\n22 April – Event Day. \n\n\n\n\nWhy join?  \n\n\n\nThis is a chance to level up your pitching skills and forge important connections with gender-conscious investors\, creating opportunities for future deals.  \n\n\n\nBefore the event\, selected entrepreneurs will be invited to dedicated training sessions to help them deliver the best pitch on the event day. In order to prepare the selected participants for the session\, the WomenINvestEU team will also provide coaching on critical topics\, such as innovation disruption\, team\, product/service\, go2market strategy\, impact and financial plan.  \n\n\n\nIn collaboration with the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN)\, all eligible applicants will also have the opportunity to benefit from support from EEN regional advisers who can provide free specialized training\, advisory and support services that may benefit your startup. \n\n\n\nDuring the matchmaking event\, entrepreneurs will be able to introduce their startup to a curated list of members of the European Network of Gender-Conscious Investors with a track record in supporting women-led or women owned startups building sustainability and climate tech solutions. \n\n\n\nFinally\, entrepreneurs will get the chance to be invited to one-to-one meetings with interested investors after the event to explore potential follow-ups and deals.

SUMMARY:Key insights and lessons for Nature-based Solutions and territorial planning in the EU
DESCRIPTION:What lessons can be learned from EU regions on design\, implementation\, governance and monitoring of nature-based solutions (NbS)? What are cross-regional insights on barriers and success factors for NbS? Which policy-relevant recommendations can be drawn? Join this practical workshop co-organised by Climate KIC as part of the ReAdapt project and get insights for your territorial planning. \n\n\n\nThe ReAdapt Sensemaking Workshop aims to address these questions. It brings together EU\, national\, and regional policymakers\, case study regions and ESPON representatives to distil shared lessons for stronger NbS implementation across Europe. These lessons will directly feed into the ReAdapt Policy Guidance Toolkit\, which offers policy guidelines throughout the NbS policy cycle (Problem identification & scoping\, Planning & design\, Financing\, Implementation and Monitoring). \n\n\n\nDuring this interactive workshop\, we will: \n\n\n\n\nGather insights for the ReAdapt Policy Guidance Toolkit\n\n\n\nPresent ReAdapt results so far: the Knowledge repository\, Climate risk maps\, cross-regional lessons and Policy Guidance Toolkit\n\n\n\nExplore cross-regional insights on barriers and success factors for NbS\n\n\n\nReflect on NbS design\, implementation\, governance\, financing\, and monitoring\n\n\n\nTranslate local experiences into policy-relevant recommendations\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout ReAdapt\n\n\n\nESPON ReAdapt (Re-Naturing Territorial Development for Climate Risk Adaptation I 2024-2026) aims to strengthen local and regional climate adaptation in the EU by integrating NbS into governance. Despite their effectiveness\, NbS face challenges such as fragmented knowledge\, limited data and lack of clear policy recommendations. ReAdapt addresses these issues by developing a knowledge repository\, spatial climate risk visualizations\, gathering best practices from eight case studies\, and developing a Policy Guidance Toolkit.

SUMMARY:Connect: Reflections on 2025 & Optimism for 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we reflect on one of the most challenging years\, share key takeaways from COP30\, and explore how our community can drive climate innovation and collaboration in 2026. \n\n\n\n2025 has been a year of extremes. We’ve seen climate events redefine what “crisis” means\, youth-led protests on social conditions\, a mix of setbacks and promising progress in climate targets and ambitions. Against this backdrop\, national delegations reconvened at COP30 in Belém\, Brazil in an extremely fragmented and uncertain political landscape. \n\n\n\nNow\, as the year draws to a close\, it’s time to gather as a Community and discuss: what are the main lessons from 2025? And how can we turn the tensions of recent years – marked by fear and impatience – into sources of resilience and creativity for a more constructive 2026? \n\n\n\nWe’ll kick off with an honest and empowering conversation between Christiana Figueres\, key negotiator behind the 2015 Paris agreement\, and Kirsten Dunlop\, CEO of Climate KIC and one of the leading voices in the systems innovation ecosystem. Together\, they’ll reflect on the global climate landscape and explore pathways for meaningful action. \n\n\n\nNext\, we’ll share highlights from our Community and initiatives for 2026\, setting the stage for collaborations in the upcoming year. \n\n\n\nWhat can you expect? \n\n\n\n\nInsights and takeaways from COP30 Brazil and the defining moments of 2025.\n\n\n\nPriorities\, anticipations and opportunities in 2026.\n\n\n\nA networking space to share commitments and lay the groundwork for collaborations.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nChristiana Figueres\, Founding Partner of Global Optimism\, Chief Negotiator of the landmark Paris Agreement of 2015Christiana Figueres is an internationally recognized leader on climate action. In her position as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) she steered the global diplomatic effort that culminated in the 2015 Paris Agreement. Today she is the co-founder of Global Optimism\, co-host of the podcast Outrage & Optimism and co-author of “The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis”.\n\n\n\nKirsten Dunlop\, CEO of Climate KICA creative\, energetic and inspirational leader\, Dr. Kirsten Dunlop brings to her role a deep conviction in our capacity to learn and evolve into a climate-resilient society\, and her over 30 years of experience catalyzing systemic transformations in a career spanning academia\, consulting\, banking\, and the insurance industry\, across three continents.. As an expert communicator and enthusiast\, she is a sought-after speaker on systems innovation\, financial systems change and societal transformation in the context of climate.

SUMMARY:EIT Innovation Awards
DESCRIPTION:Innovation is Europe’s most renewable resource – yet still underused. Talent is everywhere\, but opportunities are not always within reach. The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) changes this by linking ideas with impact\, talent with markets\, and emerging regions with established hubs.  \n\n\n\nThe EIT Innovation Awards 2025 showcase this mission with three flagship events coming together under one banner for the first time: \n\n\n\n\nThe EIT Jumpstarter Grand Finale: after a seven-month pre-acceleration programme\, early-stage innovators from moderate and emerging regions compete for prizes of up to EUR 10 000 across seven categories: Energy\, Food\, Health\, New European Bauhaus\, Raw Materials\, Urban Mobility\, and Rebuild Ukraine. Selection also takes place for EIT Jumpstarter Next\, a track for alumni advancing validated ideas to market entry\n\n\n\n\n\nThe EIT Awards: celebrating excellence across four categories: \n\n\n\n\n\nMost Promising EIT Changemaker: a leader whose activities create significant social impact.\n\n\n\nBest Innovation Team: a diverse group pioneering a transformative product or service.\n\n\n\nMost Promising Venture: a startup within the EIT Community showing strong growth potential.\n\n\n\nPublic Award: the community’s favourite innovation\, chosen by public vote. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe EIT Red Kalyna Celebrations: recognising Ukrainian women entrepreneurs\, educators\, researchers\, and mentors who drive innovation and positive change\, honouring groundbreaking products\, solutions\, and businesses that embody resilience and determination\n\n\n\n\nWhy It Matters \n\n\n\nTogether\, these initiatives reflect the full circle of European innovation: no region left behind\, every innovator recognised\, no good idea unsupported. By connecting countries\, sectors\, and stages of development\, the EIT acts as Europe’s bridge – from East to West\, North to South\, from the earliest pitch to global breakthrough.  \n\n\n\nSave the date to discover the winners on 25 November.

SUMMARY:Climathon Kraków 2025
DESCRIPTION:Urban heat islands during heatwaves. Rising summer temperatures are becoming increasingly hazardous to our health\, infrastructure\, and quality of life\, and we believe that local communities hold the key to creating meaningful and innovative solutions. \n\n\n\nOn 13 November 2025\, Kraków joins cities around the world for Climathon – a global movement that brings together citizens\, creatives\, and changemakers to design solutions for local climate challenges. \n\n\n\nThis year’s Climathon in Kraków will focus on one of the city’s most pressing issues: urban heat islands during heatwaves – hotspots that intensify heatwaves\, posing a threat to health\, infrastructure\, and urban life. Rising summer temperatures are becoming increasingly hazardous to our health\, infrastructure\, and quality of life. We believe that local communities hold the key to creating meaningful and innovative solutions. \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin the day with the 2030 SDGs Game\, a powerful multiplayer simulation that helps participants experience what it takes to create a sustainable world. Guided by certified facilitator Antonios Triantafyllakis\, this session will set the stage for systemic thinking and collaborative action. Insights from Kraków will be shared on the Global Wall of Kizukis\, connecting our local conversations to a worldwide dialogue happening in parallel with COP30. \n\n\n\nAfterwards\, participants will: \n\n\n\n\nLearn from Kraków’s climate advisors about the challenge of urban heat islands\n\n\n\nForm teams and use creative tools to brainstorm and prototype solutions\n\n\n\nPitch their ideas to peers and partners for feedback and potential follow-up\n\n\n\n\nWhether you are a student\, designer\, activist\, professional\, policymaker\, or simply a concerned citizen\, this is your chance to take part in shaping Kraków’s climate future. \n\n\n\nThe Climathon is hosted at Apteka Designu (The Design Pharmacy)\, a unique living laboratory in the revitalised Wesoła district. Once a hospital pharmacy\, it has been transformed into a creative hub for experimentation\, design\, and community action. \n\n\n\nOrganised by Gamification Global\, in partnership with The Working Group at Apteka Designu\, and Kraków’s Climate Advisors. \n\n\n\nParticipation is free of charge\, but we kindly request that you commit to joining for the full day to maximise the benefits of this collaborative experience. \n\n\n\nBe part of Climathon Kraków 2025! Connect\, co-create\, and take action for a cooler\, greener\, and more resilient city.

SUMMARY:Connect: Transformation on the Ground. Guidelines for community led innovation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an insightful Community Connect session exploring a community-led\, place-based approach to innovation\, and discover how it can be replicated in your organisation’s operations for greater impact.\n\n\n\nAs climate innovators\, we’re often pushed to think of new bold ideas that are scalable and ‘solve’ urgent issues. However\, what might get missed through such an approach? \n\n\n\nPerhaps systems transformation can be more effective with slow\, relational and place-based approaches. \n\n\n\nBut how can such approaches be integrated in your work as innovators? And how do you convince funders\, investors\, and strategic partners to follow this approach?  \n\n\n\nJoin us for a new Community Connect session as we dive into innovation rooted in community and systemic transformation\, and uncover how it can lead your organisation to achieve greater impact. \n\n\n\nWe’ll discuss with experts from Unearthodox and Post Growth Institute\, who have just published a report on this topic titled ‘Nurturing Innovation: Weaving Containers with Care and Courage for Collective Change‘. With them\, we’ll learn how this model of innovation can be replicated in your work context and scaled to other organisations partnering with you. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMeet the speakers\n\n\n\n\nMarianna Coulentianos is the Post Growth Institute’s Research Lead\, based in the UK. She is a lecturer in Responsible Design\, School of Design and Creative Arts at Loughborough University\n\n\n\nSonia Tesfaye is a research and policy consultant and social justice advocate\, based in Germany.
