SUMMARY:What Lies Beyond Incubation and Acceleration?
DESCRIPTION:You have been through an accelerator. Or you run one. Or you fund them. And you may have asked yourself: is this really enough? \n\n\n\nFor climate adaptation entrepreneurs in emerging markets\, LDCs\, and especially small island developing states\, conventional incubation and acceleration programmes often fall short. They were not designed for businesses solving deeply local\, systemic challenges where the path to scale looks nothing like a venture-backed startup\, and where patient\, blended capital and long-term ecosystem support matter far more than a demo day. \n\n\n\nThis public webinar is for founders\, entrepreneurship support organisations\, and impact funders who want to explore what lies beyond for adaptation businesses – and who are willing to ask harder questions about how we do we really create the systemic conditions for attracting the investments they need. \n\n\n\nContributing speakers: \n\n\n\n\nLea Faucheux\, Climate Policy Initiative and the ClimateShot Investor Coalition: findings from CPI’s forthcoming landscape report on climate-focused agribusiness technical assistance providers in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America\n\n\n\nScott Walker\, Systemic Innovation: systemic barriers to enterprise scaling and implications for adaptation support\, exemplified by the updated African Scalecraft body of work\n\n\n\nTeam from Climate KIC and PlanAdapt: emerging findings from the two year evolution of the MSME Incubation & Acceleration Community of Practice of the Climate Adaptation Innovation & Learning project\n\n\n\n\nThe Climate Adaptation Innovation and Learning project is financed by the Global Environment Facility and implemented by UNIDO\, in partnership with Climate KIC\, the Global Adaptation and Resilience Investment Working Group\, and UNEP FI. We are developing a unique knowledge platform for climate adaptation–a hub to drive innovation and boost private sector engagement.

SUMMARY:Unlocking circular incentives: Hidden powers cities already have
DESCRIPTION:Cities and regions across Europe are attempting to implement circular economy strategies. Numerous businesses and organisations are offering solutions to support them. And yet progress is slow. \n\n\n\nWhy? Insights from CCRI communities of practice have highlighted the problem: using linear rules\, contracts and metrics to pursue circular outcomes. They’re potentially the right tools\, but cities and regions need to unlock and re-align them for circular change to really begin \n\n\n\nUnlocking Circular Incentives: The Hidden Power You Already Have is a hands-on online session about designing support measures for circular businesses that work in practice. The session includes real examples from Vienna and Hackney to spark discussion and exchange. \n\n\n\nIn just two hours\, you’ll learn to examine and diagnose needs\, processes and barriers so you can develop\, propose and implement practical adjustments to existing tools – without adding new funding streams. \n\n\n\nWho’s it for? \n\n\n\n\nAnyone already implementing circular strategies but facing challenges in delivery and uptake.\n\n\n\nCity and regional practitioners working on circular economy\, sustainability\, procurement\, waste management\, economic development\, or innovation.\n\n\n\nPublic officials involved in contracts\, budgeting\, programme design or setting KPIs.\n\n\n\nBusiness support organisations\, development agencies\, and circular hubs working with SMEs\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the CCRI communities of practice\n\n\n\nOver the past year\, CCRI (Circular Cities and Regions Initiative) communities of practice have brought practitioners together to openly share what works\, what doesn’t\, and where they get stuck. This CCRI online workshop series builds directly on these insights\, turning peer exchange into practical\, hands-on sessions designed to help you move from ambition to concrete actions – no matter where you are in your transition. \n\n\n\nThe online workshops are coordinated by Climate KIC\, ICLEI\, Circular Flanders\, and DG RTD

SUMMARY:Building your regulatory intelligence system (and why investors care)
DESCRIPTION:Regulation is part of building in cleantech\, but it doesn’t have to be a blocker. The challenge is knowing which rules actually matter for your business\, and which ones are just distraction.  \n\n\n\nJoin Cleantech Regulatory Advisor\, Cinzia Alberti\, for a practical founder-focused masterclass on navigating European regulation as you scale your business. This session focuses on how to identify your real regulatory touchpoints\, prioritise market entry based on regulatory complexity\, and talk about regulation in a way that builds investor confidence.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll cover why regulatory strategy matters from both an operational and investor perspective\, how to avoid common mistakes that can set teams back 6–12 months\, and what investors actually want to hear when regulation comes up. You’ll also learn when it makes sense to handle things internally\, when to bring in external support\, and what that support looks like in practice\, illustrated with a real-world EU multi‑market expansion example.  \n\n\n\nThe masterclass includes a 30‑minute presentation followed by a 15‑minute interactive Q&A\, with space to bring your own questions and challenges.

SUMMARY:Insights: Green and digital. What it means for small businesses in practice
DESCRIPTION:Join a new Community Insights session to discover how small businesses can increase competitiveness and resilience while navigating the green and digital transitions.\n\n\n\nSmall businesses are under pressure to both decarbonise and digitalise\, but doing both at once can feel overwhelming. What if going green and going digital could support each other? \n\n\n\nWorking on the “twin transition”\, combining green and digital strategies\, can help SMEs build resilience\, cut costs\, and future-proof their business. \n\n\n\nIn this new Community Insights session\, we will explore what the twin transition looks like in practice building on the insights from the recent study ‘Digital Transformation of European Micro-Businesses‘\, created in collaboration between Mastercard and Caribou. The research shows that many micro-businesses are still at an early stage of digital maturity and highlights that sustainability depends on digital readiness.  \n\n\n\nDuring the webinar we will unpack how digital and sustainability journeys intersect\, and what this means in practice for small businesses and those who support them.  \n\n\n\nWhat can you expect? \n\n\n\n\nKey insights from the study  \n\n\n\nPractical implications for micro-business support and programme design  \n\n\n\nA real-world case study\n\n\n\nInteractive discussion  \n\n\n\n\nThe study has been developed by Mastercard through its Strive EU programme – an initiative supporting small business growth and resilience across Europe – in collaboration with Caribou\, a global consultancy accelerating impact in the digital age. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nLog in to RSVP for this event\n\n\n\nThis event is open to Climate KIC Community members only. SUMMARY:Adaptation Accelerator Hub webinar series: Unlocking private capital for climate adaptation
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Adaptation Accelerator Hub (AAH) webinar series focuses on private sector engagement in adaptation for climate resilience. The first webinar in this series highlights adaptation as a strategic\, profitable business opportunity and the role of the private sector from peripheral financiers to core drivers of resilience. \n\n\n\nThe session is designed to position climate resilience as an untapped $300 billion market\, emphasizing how adaptation investments foster sustainable growth and enhance cooperation within the financial sector to mobilize capital for vulnerable regions. \n\n\n\nDuring the webinar\, we will: \n\n\n\n\nExamine the market inefficiencies hindering investment and identify targeted policy reforms and risk mitigation instruments.\n\n\n\nHighlight the multifaceted role of businesses in adaptation\, recognizing their contributions as innovators\, logistics providers\, and technical experts beyond traditional financing.\n\n\n\nIllustrate the opportunities for private sector involvement in adaptation through case studies of successful privately led initiatives.\n\n\n\nPresent developments in countries such as Ethiopia\, Maldives\, and Cambodia to demonstrate how AAH support strengthens national readiness and facilitates the transition from climate planning to actionable\, investment-ready solutions. \n\n\n\n\nYou can read more information about the event here.

SUMMARY:Key insights and lessons for Nature-based Solutions and territorial planning in the EU
DESCRIPTION:What lessons can be learned from EU regions on design\, implementation\, governance and monitoring of nature-based solutions (NbS)? What are cross-regional insights on barriers and success factors for NbS? Which policy-relevant recommendations can be drawn? Join this practical workshop co-organised by Climate KIC as part of the ReAdapt project and get insights for your territorial planning. \n\n\n\nThe ReAdapt Sensemaking Workshop aims to address these questions. It brings together EU\, national\, and regional policymakers\, case study regions and ESPON representatives to distil shared lessons for stronger NbS implementation across Europe. These lessons will directly feed into the ReAdapt Policy Guidance Toolkit\, which offers policy guidelines throughout the NbS policy cycle (Problem identification & scoping\, Planning & design\, Financing\, Implementation and Monitoring). \n\n\n\nDuring this interactive workshop\, we will: \n\n\n\n\nGather insights for the ReAdapt Policy Guidance Toolkit\n\n\n\nPresent ReAdapt results so far: the Knowledge repository\, Climate risk maps\, cross-regional lessons and Policy Guidance Toolkit\n\n\n\nExplore cross-regional insights on barriers and success factors for NbS\n\n\n\nReflect on NbS design\, implementation\, governance\, financing\, and monitoring\n\n\n\nTranslate local experiences into policy-relevant recommendations\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout ReAdapt\n\n\n\nESPON ReAdapt (Re-Naturing Territorial Development for Climate Risk Adaptation I 2024-2026) aims to strengthen local and regional climate adaptation in the EU by integrating NbS into governance. Despite their effectiveness\, NbS face challenges such as fragmented knowledge\, limited data and lack of clear policy recommendations. ReAdapt addresses these issues by developing a knowledge repository\, spatial climate risk visualizations\, gathering best practices from eight case studies\, and developing a Policy Guidance Toolkit.

SUMMARY:SILP Learning Festival 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Systems Innovation Learning Partnership\, a collaboration between the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and Climate KIC\, is back with a new edition of the Learning Festival. \n\n\n\nThe Learning Festival is an invitation to pause\, learn together and make sense of reality without collapsing into urgency\, oversimplification or performance. \n\n\n\nAcross three days\, we’ll explore how narratives\, funding practices and collective learning shape what becomes possible in complex systems. To help us process reality in all it’s heaviness\, we’re inviting a comedian to accompany us in the festival to remind us that humour can be the most honest form of being with such harsh realities. \n\n\n\nDay 1: Climate narratives in action: Attention\, trust\, and imagining alternative futures\n\n\n\nTuesday 10th March 10-12.30 CET \n\n\n\nWith backtracking climate commitments\, shrinking budgets and shifting geopolitical tensions\, it can feel so difficult to reach the people needed for meaningful\, global climate action. \n\n\n\nYet climate narratives continue to travel through mainstream routes like Hollywood and through quieter\, less obvious pathways like choirs\, communities and culture. \n\n\n\nDay 1 invites you into a kaleidoscopic exploration of climate narratives: where they come from\, how they shape attention and trust\, and how they open (or close) our ability to imagine alternative futures. \n\n\n\nWith conversation partners from diverse spaces\, we’ll explore how different forms of storytelling and inherited narratives are being used to: \n\n\n\n\nCapture attention\n\n\n\nShape attitudes and behaviour\n\n\n\nIllustrate possible futures\n\n\n\nCreate momentum for climate action\n\n\n\n\nThis is a space to pause the churn of urgency\, question what stories are doing in the world\, and reflect on the responsibility we carry in the narratives we amplify. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\nDay 2: In-between Spaces: Intermediaries rethinking funding practices\n\n\n\nWednesday 11th March 10-12.30 CETIf you’re holding relationships that don’t neatly align\, translating between languages that don’t quite match\, expected to deliver certainty in situations defined by uncertainty. Accountable to multiple worlds of funders\, communities\, institutions all with different incentives\, timelines\, and definitions of success. \n\n\n\nThis is the work of being in-between. \n\n\n\nDay 2 marks the launch of the Rethinking Intermediaries Series report — a learning paper emerging from shared inquiry with intermediary funders and ecosystem support organisations navigating this in-between space. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll explore live examples of experimental practice spaces in funding and relational work\, opening honest conversations about: \n\n\n\n\nThe challenges of working across worlds\n\n\n\nWhat experimentation looks like in practice\n\n\n\nHow intermediaries are finding new ways to work with complexity\n\n\n\n\nThis day is designed as a learning space… not to resolve tension but to understand it more deeply. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\nDay 3: Systems Innovation Learning Horizons (Closed Group)\n\n\n\nThursday 12th March 10.00-13.00 CET \n\n\n\nThe 2026 SILP Learning Festival will close the current lifecycle of the SILP programme. \n\n\n\nDay 3 will see an invitation-only gathering of some of Climate KIC’s closest partners and collaborators\, and some new friends\, come together in an intentional space to pause and reflect on what we are collectively learning about working in\, with\, and on complex systems. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we will: \n\n\n\n\nReflect on emerging insights from systems innovation practice\n\n\n\nShare live learning and challenges from our own work\n\n\n\nExplore the evolving landscape of systems innovation\n\n\n\nSurface collective needs and opportunities for future learning\n\n\n\n\nThis is a space for honest sense-making\, shared reflection and imagining what learning horizons might come next. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to be a part of this closed group\, please email jessamy.hardie@climate-kic.org (and cc will@orbitallearning.io)

SUMMARY:The power of transdisciplinarity for innovation-led impact
DESCRIPTION:Transdisciplinary approaches that bridge research domains play a key role in enhancing the impact of research outcomes.  \n\n\n\nFor example\, Social Sciences\, and Humanities (SSH) fields are sometimes overlooked in innovation and technology transfer while their contribution is increasingly recognised. Insights on human behaviour\, culture\, and social change can shape ideas into innovations that are more inclusive\, sustainable\, and impactful.  \n\n\n\nResearchers engaged in co-creation for innovation-led impact use new methods and practices effective for valorisation. They can connect research results from Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, and Mathematics (STEM) fields with people’s lives and values\, promote multistakeholder engagement\, and develop innovative solutions that respond to societal needs. \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\nThe panel is moderated by Maria Cristina Russo\, Deputy Director-General for Innovation\, Prosperity and International Cooperation\, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation\, European Commission\, discussing with the following speakers:  \n\n\n\n\nEsther De Smet\, Senior Policy Advisor at Central Research Department of Ghent University\n\n\n\nKarim Selouane\, Deputy Director of European and international affairs at CEREMA\n\n\n\nBalzhan Orazbayeva\, Manager Strategic Initiatives at University Industry Innovation Network (UIIN)

SUMMARY:Connect: Reflections on 2025 & Optimism for 2026
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we reflect on one of the most challenging years\, share key takeaways from COP30\, and explore how our community can drive climate innovation and collaboration in 2026. \n\n\n\n2025 has been a year of extremes. We’ve seen climate events redefine what “crisis” means\, youth-led protests on social conditions\, a mix of setbacks and promising progress in climate targets and ambitions. Against this backdrop\, national delegations reconvened at COP30 in Belém\, Brazil in an extremely fragmented and uncertain political landscape. \n\n\n\nNow\, as the year draws to a close\, it’s time to gather as a Community and discuss: what are the main lessons from 2025? And how can we turn the tensions of recent years – marked by fear and impatience – into sources of resilience and creativity for a more constructive 2026? \n\n\n\nWe’ll kick off with an honest and empowering conversation between Christiana Figueres\, key negotiator behind the 2015 Paris agreement\, and Kirsten Dunlop\, CEO of Climate KIC and one of the leading voices in the systems innovation ecosystem. Together\, they’ll reflect on the global climate landscape and explore pathways for meaningful action. \n\n\n\nNext\, we’ll share highlights from our Community and initiatives for 2026\, setting the stage for collaborations in the upcoming year. \n\n\n\nWhat can you expect? \n\n\n\n\nInsights and takeaways from COP30 Brazil and the defining moments of 2025.\n\n\n\nPriorities\, anticipations and opportunities in 2026.\n\n\n\nA networking space to share commitments and lay the groundwork for collaborations.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nChristiana Figueres\, Founding Partner of Global Optimism\, Chief Negotiator of the landmark Paris Agreement of 2015Christiana Figueres is an internationally recognized leader on climate action. In her position as Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) she steered the global diplomatic effort that culminated in the 2015 Paris Agreement. Today she is the co-founder of Global Optimism\, co-host of the podcast Outrage & Optimism and co-author of “The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis”.\n\n\n\nKirsten Dunlop\, CEO of Climate KICA creative\, energetic and inspirational leader\, Dr. Kirsten Dunlop brings to her role a deep conviction in our capacity to learn and evolve into a climate-resilient society\, and her over 30 years of experience catalyzing systemic transformations in a career spanning academia\, consulting\, banking\, and the insurance industry\, across three continents.. As an expert communicator and enthusiast\, she is a sought-after speaker on systems innovation\, financial systems change and societal transformation in the context of climate.

SUMMARY:Deep Dive: Unlocking green public-private partnerships. A case by case exploration
DESCRIPTION:Join us for this year’s last Deep Dive on green Public-Private Partnerships. We will explore how businesses can work with the public sector\, highlighting experiences\, learnings\, and recommendations to go forward.\n\n\n\nIt is clear that neither public nor private sector alone can solve the climate crisis; they must work together. For this purpose\, there is no way around Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) if we aim to meet our and Europe’s 2030 climate targets. \n\n\n\nAs discussed with our members during the last CoLab in Warsaw\, green and digital transformation is an area for development and business opportunities within the PPP framework\, not only on a national level but also on regional and city level. A clear recommendation for businesses that want to implement these partnerships is to be agile and able to adapt to the evolving priorities of the public sector – just like any other consumer. \n\n\n\nHow can you align your business priorities with those of the public sector to elevate your products and services? How can you build scalable\, effective Public-Private Partnerships with governmental stakeholders? \n\n\n\nJoin us on Tuesday 2 December for our final Deep Dive of the year when you will hear from a group of public and private stakeholders to further our understanding of and ways of elevating Public-Private Partnerships. \n\n\n\nThis Deep Dive will build on the legacy and insights from the Community CoLab in Warsaw\, where we gathered various stakeholders from the Polish public and private sectors to discuss PPP\, recommendations\, and actionable next steps.   \n\n\n\nWhat you’ll learn\n\n\n\nThrough guided dialogues\, peer-to-peer exchanges\, real-world case studies and more\, you will:   \n\n\n\n\nLearn from businesses and public stakeholders working with PPP. \n\n\n\nGain insights into how to work with PPP and why it’s important to you. \n\n\n\nNetwork with other stakeholders interested in PPP as you are.   \n\n\n\n\nThis is not merely a learning event. Expect practical methods and exercises to provide insights into your organisation.   \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDimitri Ionesco\, Founder of LightMirrorLightMirror develops reflective panels that bring sunlight into hospitals and care homes\, reducing the need for artificial lighting and heating. By installing these reflective panels at the edges of roofs\, natural light can be redirected into other buildings\, making it a controllable asset that cuts costs and improves the overall well-being of patients and residents.\n\n\n\nPaula McGinnel\, Investment & Industry Specialist\, Climate KICPaula is an Investment & Industry Specialist at Climate-KIC\, where she primarily programme-manages the City-Industry Dialogue initiative\, supporting EU Cities to collaborate with industry and finance on large-scale decarbonisation.
