SUMMARY:From Policy to Bankability: Financing Climate-Positive Energy Projects for the Energy Union
DESCRIPTION:Achieving a clean\, secure and competitive Energy Union requires more than ambitious policy targets—it depends on turning climate-positive energy ideas into real\, scalable projects. \n\n\n\nAcross Europe\, many sustainable energy initiatives struggle to access finance. While they align with policy goals and climate objectives\, they often lack the structure\, clarity or visibility needed to attract investment. In this context\, improving the investment readiness of clean energy projects is essential to accelerate the energy transition\, mobilise capital\, and deliver real-world impact. \n\n\n\nThe event explores how climate-positive energy projects can become investment-ready and successfully move from concept to implementation. \n\n\n\nBringing together perspectives from policy\, finance and innovation\, the session will: \n\n\n\n\nhighlight key barriers to financing clean energy projects\n\n\n\nexplain what makes a project attractive to investors\n\n\n\nshowcase practical approaches to improving project readiness\n\n\n\nexplore how collaboration can unlock investment and scale solutions\n\n\n\n\nThis event is organized by Wegrant with the support of the CLIMINVEST project\, a Horizon Europe project focused on making climate investments more financially viable by strengthening project design and investment readiness. \n\n\n\nBen Honan\, Investment Lead at Climate KIC\, will be speaking at the event. Ben will share Climate KIC’s insights into moving climate-positive energy projects from concept to investment readiness\, and explain how collaboration across policy\, finance\, and innovation can unlock capital on a large scale.

SUMMARY:Beyond the Course: How to build a future-ready workforce that delivers on change
DESCRIPTION:The organisations making real progress on their climate targets aren’t just better at training their people. They are better at creating the conditions for success\, enabling learning that translates into action. \n\n\n\nMost corporate sustainability programmes skip straight to the course\, neglecting to design for what will make the training actually stick. \n\n\n\nIn this session\, Kite Insights and Climate KIC will show you what the organisations getting this right are doing differently: a more complete approach to workforce engagement that addresses what happens before and after the training intervention that determines whether learning lands or evaporates. \n\n\n\nWe will cover:\n\n\n\n\nKite Insight’s four-stage engagement framework — Measure\, Engage\, Educate\, Sustain \n\n\n\nExamples in practice: drawing from Climate KIC’s work supporting leaders develop skills for uncertainty\, including navigating towards shared goals\, building cultures of experimentation\, and creating the conditions for innovation to take root inside large\, complex organisations.\n\n\n\n\nYou’ll leave with:\n\n\n\n\nA clear-eyed view of where your engagement strategy is breaking down and at least one concrete fix you can act on immediately. \n\n\n\nA better understanding of how to transform organisational complexity from a blocker into a source of innovation and business opportunity.\n\n\n\n\nIf your organisation is serious about turning ambition into action\, this is where to start. \n\n\n\nWho is the session for:\n\n\n\nThis session is for sustainability practitioners working in large companies who are responsible for sustainability training initiatives and ESG/NetZero strategy design.  The session will also be relevant to other functions that engage with or run effective sustainability training programmes\, including L&D and HR\, the Greater London Authority and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. \n\n\n\nThis session is hosted by The Collaborative for Systemic Climate Action and presented by Kite Insights and Climate KIC. It is part of the Green Skills Festival\, a London Climate Action Week-affiliated initiative. Read more about the Festival below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the organisers\n\n\n\nThe Collaborative for Systemic Climate Action is a unique alliance of 27 globally active implementing partners and trusted funding partners resourcing the bold systemic action this moment demands. We have made an intentional commitment to overcome the fragmentation and competition that all too often undermine climate action by working together\, pooling resources and reimagining how solutions are designed\, financed and delivered. Kite Insights and Climate KIC are members of the Collaborative. \n\n\n\nThe largest innovation agency in Europe\, Climate KIC bridges the private and public sector green skills gap by combining technical expertise (e.g. renewable energy\, carbon accounting) with transversal leadership skills (e.g.\, systems thinking\, collaboration). The Academy is Climate KIC’s flagship learning program for the public and private sector. \n\n\n\nKite Insights empowers organizations to articulate their stance\, activate teams from ground-up\, and foster meaningful\, sustained climate action. Blending strategic research and thought leadership\, their methodology leverages AI and focuses on understanding\, motivation\, and capabilities across roles and sectors. \n\n\n\nAbout the Green Skills Festival\n\n\n\nAs part of London Climate Action Week 2026\, Climate KIC and Kite Insights\, with The Collaborative for Systemic Climate Action and invited partners\, are convening the Green Skills Festival. A full day of conversations\, workshops and interactive sessions exploring the capabilities\, leadership\, collaboration and innovation needed to accelerate systems transformation. \n\n\n\nRooted in these partners’ collective belief that climate action requires radical collaboration across sectors\, disciplines and communities\, the festival brings together practitioners\, educators\, innovators\, community leaders and systems thinkers to share ideas\, challenge assumptions and explore practical pathways for change. \n\n\n\nThroughout the day\, participants will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse programme of sessions\, connect with peers\, and discover new approaches to navigating the complexity of climate transformation. \n\n\n\nRead more and register to all the events that are part of the Festival here.

SUMMARY:The double challenge: Closing the green skills gap\, changing the system
DESCRIPTION:Join this session from our partners Unearthodox for an interactive systems lab exploring how we can create the conditions for a just and regenerative transition.\n\n\n\nThe green skills gap is not only a workforce challenge. It is also a systems gap. \n\n\n\nWhile significant efforts are underway to build the skills needed for a sustainable and green transition\, it is equally important to ask what conditions\, structures\, and systems must change to enable the capabilities required for a just and regenerative transition to emerge and thrive over the long term. \n\n\n\nThis workshop session is for funders\, policymakers\, innovators\, incubation and ecosystem leaders\, systems thinkers\, and transition practitioners who are interested in shaping the conditions that enable future capabilities to take root and thrive. Through a futures-focused and participatory process\, we will explore the system conditions needed to cultivate the capabilities required for a just and regenerative transition\, and identify practical pathways for action and collaboration. \n\n\n\nThis session is part of the Green Skills Festival\, a London Climate Action Week-affiliated initiative. SUMMARY:Choose Europe: From Theory to Practice
DESCRIPTION:What does it really take to choose Europe – and to stay? \n\n\n\nEurope wants to attract global talent\, but the reality of relocating\, integrating\, and building a future here is often far more complex than policy headlines suggest. \n\n\n\nThis online panel discussion brings together voices from policy\, entrepreneurship\, higher education\, and lived international experience to explore what choosing Europe looks like in practice. Together\, we will discuss what draws people to Europe\, what makes them stay\, what barriers they still face\, and what universities\, institutions\, and policymakers can do better to make Europe a more attractive and supportive destination for global talent. \n\n\n\nThe session will focus on practical perspectives rather than abstract theory\, with speakers bringing first-hand experience from across higher education\, startup ecosystems\, talent mobility\, and European policy. \n\n\n\nJoin us for an honest and forward-looking conversation on attracting\, supporting\, and retaining talent in Europe.

SUMMARY:Climate for All: Building Green Competences for a Resilient Europe
DESCRIPTION:Europe faces escalating climate challenges. Strengthening citizens’ capacity to respond is therefore no longer optional\, it is fundamental. We bring together policymakers\, educators\, civil society\, and innovators to explore how competence-based\, experiential learning can support a more climate-resilient Europe. \n\n\n\nThis event offers a concrete perspective on how Europe can move from climate awareness to climate competence\, and from competence to action. \n\n\n\nHosted at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels\, this high-level gathering marks the closing conference of Climate for All\, an Erasmus+ initiative (2023–2026) implemented across five European countries. The project has developed a practical\, scalable approach to building green competences through game-based learning\, aligned with the European GreenComp framework. \n\n\n\nParticipants will engage with both the strategic and practical dimensions of this work: from policy-level discussion with European institutions to hands-on experience with educational games and participatory methods that translate learning into local climate action. \n\n\n\nWhat to expect\n\n\n\n\nDialogue on Policy and Practice: A high-level panel featuring representatives from the European Commission\, regional authorities\, and civil society organisations\, examining how competence-based education can strengthen climate resilience across Europe.\n\n\n\nInteractive Game Showcase: A facilitated experiential coffee break\, where participants explore six original educational games designed to foster systems thinking\, critical thinking\, futures literacy\, and collective action.\n\n\n\nParticipatory Workshop: A structured\, hands-on session\, where participants connect gameplay insights to the GreenComp framework and collaboratively map concrete actions for local climate resilience.\n\n\n\nNetworking & Exchange: Opportunities to connect with policymakers\, practitioners\, and innovators working at the intersection of education\, sustainability\, and civic engagement.\n\n\n\n\nAgenda\n\n\n\n08:30–09:00 – Arrival & Registration09:00–09:20 – Opening and Introduction to the project09:20–10:20 – High-Level Panel: “Building Climate-Resilient Citizens Through Competence-Based Learning”10:20–10:50 – Experiential Coffee Break & Game Showcase10:50–11:45 – Participatory Workshop: “Climate for All in Practice”11:45–12:00 – Closing Reflections & Next Steps \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nSophia Queckenberg\, European Commission\, DG EAC\n\n\n\nMonica Pisani\, European Commission\, DG CLIMA\n\n\n\nIoannis Anastasakis\, Region of Crete\n\n\n\nLaura McDermott\, Colectivo\n\n\n\nPatrycja Gas-Janczukowicz\, Nausika Foundation\n\n\n\nModerated by Antonios Triantafyllakis\, All for Climate ASBL\n\n\n\n\nGames presented\n\n\n\n\nSpirit Path (LARP on collective action\, systems thinking)\n\n\n\nEchoes of Gaia (storytelling card game for nature appreciation & exploratory thinking)\n\n\n\nGREENWASH!
