SUMMARY:The double challenge: Closing the green skills gap\, changing the system
DESCRIPTION:Join this session from our partners Unearthodox for an interactive systems lab exploring how we can create the conditions for a just and regenerative transition.\n\n\n\nThe green skills gap is not only a workforce challenge. It is also a systems gap. \n\n\n\nWhile significant efforts are underway to build the skills needed for a sustainable and green transition\, it is equally important to ask what conditions\, structures\, and systems must change to enable the capabilities required for a just and regenerative transition to emerge and thrive over the long term. \n\n\n\nThis workshop session is for funders\, policymakers\, innovators\, incubation and ecosystem leaders\, systems thinkers\, and transition practitioners who are interested in shaping the conditions that enable future capabilities to take root and thrive. Through a futures-focused and participatory process\, we will explore the system conditions needed to cultivate the capabilities required for a just and regenerative transition\, and identify practical pathways for action and collaboration. \n\n\n\nThis session is part of the Green Skills Festival\, a London Climate Action Week-affiliated initiative. Read more about the Festival below. \n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Green Skills Festival\n\n\n\nAs part of London Climate Action Week 2026\, Climate KIC and Kite Insights\, with The Collaborative for Systemic Climate Action and invited partners\, are convening the Green Skills Festival. A full day of conversations\, workshops and interactive sessions exploring the capabilities\, leadership\, collaboration and innovation needed to accelerate systems transformation. \n\n\n\nRooted in these partners’ collective belief that climate action requires radical collaboration across sectors\, disciplines and communities\, the festival brings together practitioners\, educators\, innovators\, community leaders and systems thinkers to share ideas\, challenge assumptions and explore practical pathways for change. \n\n\n\nThroughout the day\, participants will have the opportunity to engage with a diverse programme of sessions\, connect with peers\, and discover new approaches to navigating the complexity of climate transformation. \n\n\n\nRead more and register to all the events that are part of the Festival here.

SUMMARY:Beyond the Course: How to build a future-ready workforce that delivers on change
DESCRIPTION:The organisations making real progress on their climate targets aren’t just better at training their people. They are better at creating the conditions for success\, enabling learning that translates into action. \n\n\n\nMost corporate sustainability programmes skip straight to the course\, neglecting to design for what will make the training actually stick. \n\n\n\nIn this session\, Kite Insights and Climate KIC will show you what the organisations getting this right are doing differently: a more complete approach to workforce engagement that addresses what happens before and after the training intervention that determines whether learning lands or evaporates. \n\n\n\nWe will cover:\n\n\n\n\nKite Insight’s four-stage engagement framework — Measure\, Engage\, Educate\, Sustain \n\n\n\nExamples in practice: drawing from Climate KIC’s work supporting leaders develop skills for uncertainty\, including navigating towards shared goals\, building cultures of experimentation\, and creating the conditions for innovation to take root inside large\, complex organisations.\n\n\n\n\nYou’ll leave with:\n\n\n\n\nA clear-eyed view of where your engagement strategy is breaking down and at least one concrete fix you can act on immediately. \n\n\n\nA better understanding of how to transform organisational complexity from a blocker into a source of innovation and business opportunity.\n\n\n\n\nIf your organisation is serious about turning ambition into action\, this is where to start. \n\n\n\nWho is the session for:\n\n\n\nThis session is for sustainability practitioners working in large companies who are responsible for sustainability training initiatives and ESG/NetZero strategy design.  The session will also be relevant to other functions that engage with or run effective sustainability training programmes\, including L&D and HR\, the Greater London Authority and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. \n\n\n\nThis session is hosted by The Collaborative for Systemic Climate Action and presented by Kite Insights and Climate KIC. It is part of the Green Skills Festival\, a London Climate Action Week-affiliated initiative. Read more about the Festival below. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the organisers\n\n\n\nThe Collaborative for Systemic Climate Action is a unique alliance of 27 globally active implementing partners and trusted funding partners resourcing the bold systemic action this moment demands. We have made an intentional commitment to overcome the fragmentation and competition that all too often undermine climate action by working together\, pooling resources and reimagining how solutions are designed\, financed and delivered. Kite Insights and Climate KIC are members of the Collaborative. \n\n\n\nThe largest innovation agency in Europe\, Climate KIC bridges the private and public sector green skills gap by combining technical expertise (e.g. renewable energy\, carbon accounting) with transversal leadership skills (e.g.\, systems thinking\, collaboration). The Academy is Climate KIC’s flagship learning program for the public and private sector. \n\n\n\nKite Insights empowers organizations to articulate their stance\, activate teams from ground-up\, and foster meaningful\, sustained climate action. Blending strategic research and thought leadership\, their methodology leverages AI and focuses on understanding\, motivation\, and capabilities across roles and sectors. \n\n\n\nAbout the Green Skills Festival\n\n\n\nAs part of London Climate Action Week 2026\, Climate KIC and Kite Insights\, with The Collaborative for Systemic Climate Action and invited partners\, are convening the Green Skills Festival. SUMMARY:Investing in nature-positive futures: Innovation and place-based finance for bioeconomy and systems change
DESCRIPTION:The transition to a nature-positive economy cannot be driven by technological innovation and capital alone. It also depends on the social fabric that enables communities\, institutions and regions to innovate together. This workshop\, organised by Climate KIC and a partner event of the EU Green Week\, brings together three interdependent themes to explore how widely understood innovation becomes a catalyst for systemic change and mutually reinforcing transformation dynamics. \n\n\n\nFirst\, bioeconomy is a systemic opportunity and emerging industry with high potential to boost EU competitiveness. Moving beyond siloed sectors\, we examine how bio-based value chains can be redesigned at regional and landscape level\, integrating ecological regeneration with economic viability. Drawing on systems innovation experience as a form of social institution-building\, participants will explore how multi-actor coalitions shift the rules\, relationships and mental models that currently lock in unsustainable resource use\, forming the foundational layer for building new financial and innovation approaches. \n\n\n\nSecond\, Place-Based Finance Labs are an innovation instrument to deliver on topics such as the bioeconomy. We showcase how tailor-made financial mechanisms – co-designed with local governments\, communities and investors – unlock capital for nature-positive projects. These labs embody multilevel governance\, aligning EU policy frameworks with national programmes and sub-regional realities so that investments can flow where transformation is actually happening. \n\n\n\nThird\, innovation in its widest sense\, and as an expression of social capital. Through concrete impact stories\, we illustrate the full spectrum of innovation: technological\, business model\, social and policy – already benefiting nature\, people and the economy. Framed through multi-level perspectives on socio-technical transitions\, the stories demonstrate how place-based experiments\, supported by the right social networks and institutional conditions\, can challenge and reshape current systems\, thereby closing the loop between systemic opportunity (bioeconomy) and enabling mechanisms (finance and innovation)\, delivering real-world transformation. \n\n\n\nFormat & objectives\n\n\n\nThis workshop will bring together practitioners\, policymakers\, investors\, regional actors and innovators to explore how bioeconomy\, place-based finance and systems innovation can accelerate nature-positive transformation across Europe. \n\n\n\nThe event will also help inform our position to give feedback on Biotech Act I and as part of a submission to the upcoming call for evidence on Biotech Act II. Your contribution is fundamental to shaping policy in the right direction at European level. Join us and let your voice be heard! \n\n\n\nParticipants will:\n\n\n\n\nExplore bioeconomy as a systemic opportunity for EU competitiveness and regional regeneration.\n\n\n\nLearn how Place-Based Finance Labs can unlock capital for nature-positive projects.\n\n\n\nHear practical impact stories from technological\, social\, business model and policy innovation.\n\n\n\nIdentify governance\, investment and policy conditions needed to scale nature-positive innovation.\n\n\n\n\nThe event will be in a hybrid format\, allowing participation either in-person in our office in Bruxelles (details below) or online. \n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nDenyse Julien\, Climate KIC\, Ireland’s Deep Demonstration for the transition to a climate-neutral agri-food sector\n\n\n\nNessa Noronha\, University College Dublin\, TRANSFORM project\n\n\n\nPiotr Jurga\, Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (IUNG-PIB)\, BIOEASTWIDE\n\n\n\nSeán Douglas\, BiOrbic\n\n\n\nDamien O’Reilly\, Irish Co-operative Organisation Society (ICOS)\n\n\n\nTamara Giltsoff\, Climate KIC\, Place Finance Lab initiative\n\n\n\nKirsten Dunlop\, CEO of Climate KIC\n\n\n\n\nAgenda\n\n\n\n10:00 – 10:20 Opening and framing with Keynote from Dr. Kirsten Dunlop (CEO\, Climate KIC) \n\n\n\n10:20 – 10:45 Storytelling\, round one — How transformation begins \n\n\n\n10:45 – 11:30 Group discussion \n\n\n\n11:30 – 11:45 Storytelling\, round two — How transformation scales12:10 – 12:55 Group discussion \n\n\n\n12:55 – 13:00 Closing reflections and next steps \n\n\n\n13:00 Lunch & networking \n\n\n\nSeats are limited – Register below!

SUMMARY:Unlocking circular incentives: Hidden powers cities already have
DESCRIPTION:Cities and regions across Europe are attempting to implement circular economy strategies. Numerous businesses and organisations are offering solutions to support them. And yet progress is slow. \n\n\n\nWhy? Insights from CCRI communities of practice have highlighted the problem: using linear rules\, contracts and metrics to pursue circular outcomes. They’re potentially the right tools\, but cities and regions need to unlock and re-align them for circular change to really begin \n\n\n\nUnlocking Circular Incentives: The Hidden Power You Already Have is a hands-on online session about designing support measures for circular businesses that work in practice. The session includes real examples from Vienna and Hackney to spark discussion and exchange. \n\n\n\nIn just two hours\, you’ll learn to examine and diagnose needs\, processes and barriers so you can develop\, propose and implement practical adjustments to existing tools – without adding new funding streams. \n\n\n\nWho’s it for? \n\n\n\n\nAnyone already implementing circular strategies but facing challenges in delivery and uptake.\n\n\n\nCity and regional practitioners working on circular economy\, sustainability\, procurement\, waste management\, economic development\, or innovation.\n\n\n\nPublic officials involved in contracts\, budgeting\, programme design or setting KPIs.\n\n\n\nBusiness support organisations\, development agencies\, and circular hubs working with SMEs\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the CCRI communities of practice\n\n\n\nOver the past year\, CCRI (Circular Cities and Regions Initiative) communities of practice have brought practitioners together to openly share what works\, what doesn’t\, and where they get stuck. This CCRI online workshop series builds directly on these insights\, turning peer exchange into practical\, hands-on sessions designed to help you move from ambition to concrete actions – no matter where you are in your transition. \n\n\n\nThe online workshops are coordinated by Climate KIC\, ICLEI\, Circular Flanders\, and DG RTD

SUMMARY:Key insights and lessons for Nature-based Solutions and territorial planning in the EU
DESCRIPTION:What lessons can be learned from EU regions on design\, implementation\, governance and monitoring of nature-based solutions (NbS)? What are cross-regional insights on barriers and success factors for NbS? Which policy-relevant recommendations can be drawn? Join this practical workshop co-organised by Climate KIC as part of the ReAdapt project and get insights for your territorial planning. \n\n\n\nThe ReAdapt Sensemaking Workshop aims to address these questions. It brings together EU\, national\, and regional policymakers\, case study regions and ESPON representatives to distil shared lessons for stronger NbS implementation across Europe. These lessons will directly feed into the ReAdapt Policy Guidance Toolkit\, which offers policy guidelines throughout the NbS policy cycle (Problem identification & scoping\, Planning & design\, Financing\, Implementation and Monitoring). \n\n\n\nDuring this interactive workshop\, we will: \n\n\n\n\nGather insights for the ReAdapt Policy Guidance Toolkit\n\n\n\nPresent ReAdapt results so far: the Knowledge repository\, Climate risk maps\, cross-regional lessons and Policy Guidance Toolkit\n\n\n\nExplore cross-regional insights on barriers and success factors for NbS\n\n\n\nReflect on NbS design\, implementation\, governance\, financing\, and monitoring\n\n\n\nTranslate local experiences into policy-relevant recommendations\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout ReAdapt\n\n\n\nESPON ReAdapt (Re-Naturing Territorial Development for Climate Risk Adaptation I 2024-2026) aims to strengthen local and regional climate adaptation in the EU by integrating NbS into governance. Despite their effectiveness\, NbS face challenges such as fragmented knowledge\, limited data and lack of clear policy recommendations. ReAdapt addresses these issues by developing a knowledge repository\, spatial climate risk visualizations\, gathering best practices from eight case studies\, and developing a Policy Guidance Toolkit.

SUMMARY:Future-ready textiles: Activate desirable futures
DESCRIPTION:Climate regulation\, circular business models\, labour shifts\, and rapid technological disruption are reshaping the textile industry. To thrive\, organisations need more than compliance: they need foresight\, practical tools\, and cross-sector collaboration. \n\n\n\nTake compostable packaging: a promising innovation\, but its impact is limited without proper disposal systems or local infrastructure.
