Participants will discuss how European cooperation\, digital tools and regional initiatives can help translate circular economy strategies into concrete action and strengthen more resource-efficient and resilient economic systems across the region. \n\n\n\nClimate KIC will contribute to the programme through a presentation by Marco Antonio Segovia Bifarini\, titled “Circularity in Eastern Europe: Strategic Outlook”\, which brings together policy experts\, regional actors and innovation leaders to discuss how circular economy strategies can be strengthened across the region. \n\n\n\nIn his contribution\, Marco will explore why circular economy in Eastern Europe requires a strategic rethink and what lessons can be drawn from the Deep Demonstration in Slovenia. DESCRIPTION:In cities and communities across the EU\, delivering affordable housing is an urgent social\, economic\, and political imperative. Meeting this demand requires solutions that are both cost- effective and future-proof. \n\n\n\nLeveraging the co-benefits of circular\, energy-efficient\, and climate-resilient housing – such as lower energy and maintenance costs\, greater insurability\, and reduced climate risks – can make homes more affordable in the long run and open the door to innovative\, collaborative\, and systemic solutions. \n\n\n\nTo this end\, the EU Cities Mission is engaging European businesses and industry to translate Mission Cities’ Action and Investment Plans into specific\, quantified\, aggregate demand for green materials and technologies\, infrastructure\, manufacturing\, logistics\, interoperable digital solutions\, and green business models. In this way\, we can accelerate the formation of European lead markets and enhance competitiveness through resilience to climate and economic shocks. \n\n\n\nEmploying an innovative policy impact lab approach\, in this session Climate KIC\, in partnership with the Huge Thing and IRMIR (Institute for the Development of Cities and Regions) will gather key representatives of the European built environment ecosystem – policy makers\, industry\, innovators\, local governments\, subject experts – to start addressing housing related (esp. in terms of renovation or new construction) issues in a practice-oriented way. With the support of our partners and experts from the region\, we enable participants to and to create real changes for the city. \n\n\n\nThis year with a new format – but with the same mission! \n\n\n\nYour idea for the pilot quarter net zero\n\n\n\nAfter six successful Climathons in Zurich\, we will bring creative minds together again in 2025. \n\n\n\nThis time with a new\, local 3-day format in the pilot quarter Netto-Null – practical\, anchored in the neighbourhood and in German. \n\n\n\nOver two days\, the participants will develop ideas and work in teams on concrete approaches for the implementation of the net-zero district. \n\n\n\nOn Sunday\, the Climathon will open its doors to the neighbourhood: At the joint brunch\, all prototypes and ideas will be exhibited and shared with the population.
