SUMMARY:Unlocking circular incentives: Hidden powers cities already have
DESCRIPTION:Cities and regions across Europe are attempting to implement circular economy strategies. Numerous businesses and organisations are offering solutions to support them. And yet progress is slow. \n\n\n\nWhy? Insights from CCRI communities of practice have highlighted the problem: using linear rules\, contracts and metrics to pursue circular outcomes. They’re potentially the right tools\, but cities and regions need to unlock and re-align them for circular change to really begin \n\n\n\nUnlocking Circular Incentives: The Hidden Power You Already Have is a hands-on online session about designing support measures for circular businesses that work in practice. The session includes real examples from Vienna and Hackney to spark discussion and exchange. \n\n\n\nIn just two hours\, you’ll learn to examine and diagnose needs\, processes and barriers so you can develop\, propose and implement practical adjustments to existing tools – without adding new funding streams. \n\n\n\nWho’s it for? \n\n\n\n\nAnyone already implementing circular strategies but facing challenges in delivery and uptake.\n\n\n\nCity and regional practitioners working on circular economy\, sustainability\, procurement\, waste management\, economic development\, or innovation.\n\n\n\nPublic officials involved in contracts\, budgeting\, programme design or setting KPIs.\n\n\n\nBusiness support organisations\, development agencies\, and circular hubs working with SMEs\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the CCRI communities of practice\n\n\n\nOver the past year\, CCRI (Circular Cities and Regions Initiative) communities of practice have brought practitioners together to openly share what works\, what doesn’t\, and where they get stuck. This CCRI online workshop series builds directly on these insights\, turning peer exchange into practical\, hands-on sessions designed to help you move from ambition to concrete actions – no matter where you are in your transition. \n\n\n\nThe online workshops are coordinated by Climate KIC\, ICLEI\, Circular Flanders\, and DG RTD

SUMMARY:Introduction to Environmental and Social Impact Measurement
DESCRIPTION:This introduction helps participants understand why environmental and social impact measurement matters and how it can be done in practice. In simple terms\, it shows how to move beyond assumptions and better understand the real effects of projects and innovations on the environment\, people\, and local communities. \n\n\n\nIn today’s transition towards more sustainable and circular models\, these elements are not just technical aspects — they are strategic enablers that can significantly enhance the competitiveness\, and viability of projects in rural areas. \n\n\n\nThe session is part of the BIECONOMY GIANTS Ecosystem Trainings\, and is specifically tailored to the primary sector\, offering practical and actionable insights for: \n\n\n\n\nFarmers and livestock producers\n\n\n\nCooperatives and associations\n\n\n\nClusters\n\n\n\nStakeholders across the bio-based value chain\n\n\n\n\n\nRegister here

SUMMARY:Circular supply chains: Transforming critical materials into strategic advantage
DESCRIPTION:In this session at the Future of Utilities conference in Amsterdam\, Alberto Ogura\, Industry Decarbonisation Lead at Climate KIC\, will explore how circular supply chains can help address one of the major structural challenges facing the energy transition: access to critical raw materials. As demand grows for technologies such as batteries\, renewable energy infrastructure and electric mobility\, securing sustainable and resilient supply chains is becoming increasingly strategic. \n\n\n\nDrawing on Climate KIC’s work with partners including Pyxera Global\, the keynote will highlight how the Circular Supply Chain Coalition is expanding its activities in Europe. The initiative brings together industry actors to advance circular design\, resource recovery and new collaboration models that strengthen resilience while reducing environmental impacts. \n\n\n\nThe session will examine how circular approaches to materials management can turn resource constraints into opportunities for long-term innovation\, competitiveness and sustainability across Europe’s energy and industrial systems. \n\n\n\n\n\nClimate KIC is also offering an exclusive discount code for the event tickets only for Community members. Contact us to receive the code. \n\n\n\n\nCONTACT US

SUMMARY:Transferring circularity to Eastern Europe: From strategy to real impact
DESCRIPTION:The conference “Transferring Circularity to Eastern Europe: From Strategy to Real Impact” will take place on 12 March 2026 in Ljubljana\, Slovenia\, in a hybrid format allowing both in-person and online participation. The event is organised by Interreg CENTRAL EUROPE\, a European Union funding programme that supports transnational cooperation across Central Europe. \n\n\n\nBringing together policymakers\, industry representatives\, innovation actors and project partners\, the conference will explore how circular economy principles can move from policy ambition to practical implementation across Eastern Europe. Participants will discuss how European cooperation\, digital tools and regional initiatives can help translate circular economy strategies into concrete action and strengthen more resource-efficient and resilient economic systems across the region. \n\n\n\nClimate KIC will contribute to the programme through a presentation by Marco Antonio Segovia Bifarini\, titled “Circularity in Eastern Europe: Strategic Outlook”\, which brings together policy experts\, regional actors and innovation leaders to discuss how circular economy strategies can be strengthened across the region. \n\n\n\nIn his contribution\, Marco will explore why circular economy in Eastern Europe requires a strategic rethink and what lessons can be drawn from the Deep Demonstration in Slovenia. This place-based initiative has brought together policymakers\, businesses and research organisations to experiment with new approaches to circular innovation\, helping to translate strategy into concrete action.
