SUMMARY:EIT Innovation Awards
DESCRIPTION:Innovation is Europe’s most renewable resource – yet still underused. Talent is everywhere\, but opportunities are not always within reach. The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) changes this by linking ideas with impact\, talent with markets\, and emerging regions with established hubs.  \n\n\n\nThe EIT Innovation Awards 2025 showcase this mission with three flagship events coming together under one banner for the first time: \n\n\n\n\nThe EIT Jumpstarter Grand Finale: after a seven-month pre-acceleration programme\, early-stage innovators from moderate and emerging regions compete for prizes of up to EUR 10 000 across seven categories: Energy\, Food\, Health\, New European Bauhaus\, Raw Materials\, Urban Mobility\, and Rebuild Ukraine. Selection also takes place for EIT Jumpstarter Next\, a track for alumni advancing validated ideas to market entry\n\n\n\n\n\nThe EIT Awards: celebrating excellence across four categories: \n\n\n\n\n\nMost Promising EIT Changemaker: a leader whose activities create significant social impact.\n\n\n\nBest Innovation Team: a diverse group pioneering a transformative product or service.\n\n\n\nMost Promising Venture: a startup within the EIT Community showing strong growth potential.\n\n\n\nPublic Award: the community’s favourite innovation\, chosen by public vote. \n\n\n\n\n\nThe EIT Red Kalyna Celebrations: recognising Ukrainian women entrepreneurs\, educators\, researchers\, and mentors who drive innovation and positive change\, honouring groundbreaking products\, solutions\, and businesses that embody resilience and determination\n\n\n\n\nWhy It Matters \n\n\n\nTogether\, these initiatives reflect the full circle of European innovation: no region left behind\, every innovator recognised\, no good idea unsupported. By connecting countries\, sectors\, and stages of development\, the EIT acts as Europe’s bridge – from East to West\, North to South\, from the earliest pitch to global breakthrough.  \n\n\n\nSave the date to discover the winners on 25 November.

SUMMARY:Future-ready textiles: Activate desirable futures
DESCRIPTION:Climate regulation\, circular business models\, labour shifts\, and rapid technological disruption are reshaping the textile industry. To thrive\, organisations need more than compliance: they need foresight\, practical tools\, and cross-sector collaboration. \n\n\n\nTake compostable packaging: a promising innovation\, but its impact is limited without proper disposal systems or local infrastructure. Imagine if it had been co-created with municipalities\, behaviour experts\, suppliers\, and brands — designed for real system change and grounded in economic and social viability. That’s the kind of thinking this programme fosters. \n\n\n\nThis structured\, three-part online journey will guide you from understanding system-wide industry drivers\, to exploring future business scenarios\, to designing actionable innovation portfolios. By completing all three modules\, you will develop a project idea grounded in tangible scenarios\, insights from leading industry players\, and proven case studies\, future-proofing your organisation while creating lasting value for your stakeholders. \n\n\n\nModule 3: Activate desirable futures\n\n\n\nShift from foresight to action. Translate desirable scenarios into innovation portfolios that balance incremental\, adjacent and transformative initiatives. Design systemic interventions across product\, process\, business model\, policy and culture.  \n\n\n\nOutcome: A portfolio of actionable innovations co-developed with industry leaders that shows how to turn a scenario into a viable cross-industry project and create tangible impact. Participants leave with practical tools for networking\, engaging and securing collaboration.

SUMMARY:Climathon Zurich 2025
DESCRIPTION:The Climathon Züri is a participatory innovation format that brings people together to jointly develop local climate solutions. With the support of our partners and experts from the region\, we enable participants to and to create real changes for the city. \n\n\n\nThis year with a new format – but with the same mission! \n\n\n\nYour idea for the pilot quarter net zero\n\n\n\nAfter six successful Climathons in Zurich\, we will bring creative minds together again in 2025. \n\n\n\nThis time with a new\, local 3-day format in the pilot quarter Netto-Null – practical\, anchored in the neighbourhood and in German. \n\n\n\nOver two days\, the participants will develop ideas and work in teams on concrete approaches for the implementation of the net-zero district. \n\n\n\nOn Sunday\, the Climathon will open its doors to the neighbourhood: At the joint brunch\, all prototypes and ideas will be exhibited and shared with the population.

SUMMARY:Climathon Kraków 2025
DESCRIPTION:Urban heat islands during heatwaves. Rising summer temperatures are becoming increasingly hazardous to our health\, infrastructure\, and quality of life\, and we believe that local communities hold the key to creating meaningful and innovative solutions. \n\n\n\nOn 13 November 2025\, Kraków joins cities around the world for Climathon – a global movement that brings together citizens\, creatives\, and changemakers to design solutions for local climate challenges. \n\n\n\nThis year’s Climathon in Kraków will focus on one of the city’s most pressing issues: urban heat islands during heatwaves – hotspots that intensify heatwaves\, posing a threat to health\, infrastructure\, and urban life. Rising summer temperatures are becoming increasingly hazardous to our health\, infrastructure\, and quality of life. We believe that local communities hold the key to creating meaningful and innovative solutions. \n\n\n\nWe’ll begin the day with the 2030 SDGs Game\, a powerful multiplayer simulation that helps participants experience what it takes to create a sustainable world. Guided by certified facilitator Antonios Triantafyllakis\, this session will set the stage for systemic thinking and collaborative action. Insights from Kraków will be shared on the Global Wall of Kizukis\, connecting our local conversations to a worldwide dialogue happening in parallel with COP30. \n\n\n\nAfterwards\, participants will: \n\n\n\n\nLearn from Kraków’s climate advisors about the challenge of urban heat islands\n\n\n\nForm teams and use creative tools to brainstorm and prototype solutions\n\n\n\nPitch their ideas to peers and partners for feedback and potential follow-up\n\n\n\n\nWhether you are a student\, designer\, activist\, professional\, policymaker\, or simply a concerned citizen\, this is your chance to take part in shaping Kraków’s climate future. \n\n\n\nThe Climathon is hosted at Apteka Designu (The Design Pharmacy)\, a unique living laboratory in the revitalised Wesoła district. Once a hospital pharmacy\, it has been transformed into a creative hub for experimentation\, design\, and community action. \n\n\n\nOrganised by Gamification Global\, in partnership with The Working Group at Apteka Designu\, and Kraków’s Climate Advisors. \n\n\n\nParticipation is free of charge\, but we kindly request that you commit to joining for the full day to maximise the benefits of this collaborative experience. \n\n\n\nBe part of Climathon Kraków 2025! Connect\, co-create\, and take action for a cooler\, greener\, and more resilient city.

SUMMARY:Future-ready textiles: Designing future sustainable scenarios
\n\n\n\nModule 2: Designing future sustainable scenarios\n\n\n\nCo-create opportunity-driven and risk-aware scenarios to guide the sustainable growth of the textile industry. Build structured visions of possible textile futures – from more AI-led to more human-led pathways. Scenarios are built by embedding sustainability into the organisation’s core strategy while identifying system-level shifts and new business opportunities within planetary boundaries. \n\n\n\nOutcome: Clear scenarios\, including skills and tools map (what expertise is needed\, what exists\, what’s missing) and gap analysis\, built leveraging knowledge and real-life examples from key industry players.

SUMMARY:Future-ready textiles: Identifying key drivers of systemic change
\n\n\n\nModule 1: Identifying key drivers of systemic change\n\n\n\nLearn how different actors across the value chain experience key textile challenges\, uncover the systemic drivers of change (regulatory\, financial\, technological\, social) via key systemic change tools\, and begin shaping compelling\, collaborative project ideas that address these priorities. \n\n\n\nOutcome: You will learn how to make a strong case for the change you want to drive by building a compelling story rooted in key system-change drivers and emerging trends. Develop the ability to clearly explain these drivers across the value chain in outcome-focused language that secures internal buy-in.

SUMMARY:CoLab: Advancing green public-private partnerships
DESCRIPTION:Join our Community CoLab in Warsaw to design new models of public-private partnerships\, and identify business opportunities and coalitions across entrepreneurship\, education and research to push the climate innovation agenda \n\n\n\nTo reach the EU’s 2030 climate targets\, the EIB estimates we must allocate roughly 8% of our GDP. Unfortunately\, we are only at 5% GDP. We know that neither public nor private sector alone can solve the climate crisis\, they must work together. \n\n\n\nPublic-private partnerships are vital to turn ambitious green commitments of cities\, national governments and the EU into reality. By connecting urgent public demand with innovative business solutions and the latest research\, these collaborations unlock new markets and drive adaptation at the pace and scale our communities urgently need. \n\n\n\nClimate KIC invites you to join us in Warsaw\, Poland on Wednesday 22 October for an impactful Community Collaboration Laboratory (CoLab) focused on Advancing green public-private partnerships\, in collaboration with the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development and the University of Warsaw. We are inviting key stakeholders from public and private sectors\, national\, regional and local policymakers\, researchers\, industries\, and innovative entrepreneurs to join us. \n\n\n\nTogether\, we’ll design new models of partnerships\, understand the demand of public stakeholders\, reflect on possible solutions at the nexus of research and business\, and identify opportunities to push the climate innovation agenda in Poland and beyond. \n\n\n\nThis CoLab is just the beginning. Over the coming three years\, Climate KIC Community\, will convene public and private stakeholders\, researchers and innovators to ignite a new movement to explore systemic climate solutions and collaborate to scale and pace their implementation.  \n\n\n\nJoin us if you’re ready to future-proof your organisation and collaborate with like-minded organisations and innovators.  \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAgenda\n\n\n\n14.30 – 15.00: Registration & coffee \n\n\n\n15.00 – 15.10: Welcome to the CoLabwith Magnus Harrison\, Community Relations and Partnership Manager\, Climate KIC   \n\n\n\n15.10 – 15.50: Fire side talk: Accelerating the green transition and business opportunities through public-private partnerships.Moderated by: Katarzyna Balucka-Debska\, Policy & EU Affairs Orchestrator\, Climate KIC. \n\n\n\nSpeakers: \n\n\n\n\nMichal Piwowarczyk\, Deputy Director\, Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy\n\n\n\nKrzysztof Gulda\, President\, Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP)\n\n\n\nAnna Brussa\, Industry Value Chains Director\, Climate KIC. \n\n\n\n\n15.50 – 16.00: Session introduction \n\n\n\n16.00 – 16.45: Round table discussions   \n\n\n\n\nUnlocking private and public capitalLed by Przemek Derwich\, EU Funding Specialist\, Climate KIC\n\n\n\nBuilding and scaling competitive industriesLed by Anna Brussa\, Industry Value Chains Director\, Climate KIC.\n\n\n\nBridging innovation gapsLed by Magnus Harrison\, Community Relations and Partnership Manager\, Climate KIC  \n\n\n\n\n16.45 – 17.15: Plenary: Presentation of the round table discussionsModerated by Aleksandra Goldys\, Designer & Producer\, Industry Value Chains\, Climate KIC  \n\n\n\n17.15 – 18.00: Networking reception  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout Climate KIC Community CoLabs\n\n\n\nClimate KIC is hosting four Collaboration Laboratories (CoLabs) in the fall of 2025.  At our CoLabs\, we engage public and private stakeholders across value chains in our effort to connect climate demand with innovative business solutions. SUMMARY:Connect: Transformation on the Ground. Guidelines for community led innovation
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an insightful Community Connect session exploring a community-led\, place-based approach to innovation\, and discover how it can be replicated in your organisation’s operations for greater impact.\n\n\n\nAs climate innovators\, we’re often pushed to think of new bold ideas that are scalable and ‘solve’ urgent issues. However\, what might get missed through such an approach? \n\n\n\nPerhaps systems transformation can be more effective with slow\, relational and place-based approaches. \n\n\n\nBut how can such approaches be integrated in your work as innovators? And how do you convince funders\, investors\, and strategic partners to follow this approach?  \n\n\n\nJoin us for a new Community Connect session as we dive into innovation rooted in community and systemic transformation\, and uncover how it can lead your organisation to achieve greater impact. \n\n\n\nWe’ll discuss with experts from Unearthodox and Post Growth Institute\, who have just published a report on this topic titled ‘Nurturing Innovation: Weaving Containers with Care and Courage for Collective Change‘. With them\, we’ll learn how this model of innovation can be replicated in your work context and scaled to other organisations partnering with you. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nMeet the speakers\n\n\n\n\nMarianna Coulentianos is the Post Growth Institute’s Research Lead\, based in the UK. The organisation explores new concepts\, anticipates emerging trends\, and brings impact-focused innovation into action\, catalysing transformative change for people and the planet. Its mission is to make bold\, transformative innovations for people and nature findable\, fundable\, and feasible. Rather than adding to the many near-term solutions available in conservation\, Unearthodox works in networks to reimagine what is possible\, creating space for long-term\, equitable\, and regenerative futures to take shape\, and moving ideas from vision to reality. The organisation connects and works alongside innovators\, thought leaders\, funders\, and decision-makers who are committed to deep\, systemic change in the service of all life.

How can Europe’s rural communities and regions become more competitive? \n\n\n\nThis session explores multi-level systemic approaches to regional transformation\, including place-based design practices\, \n\n\n\nIt will be moderated by Federico Esu\, Entrepreneurship Programme Lead at Climate KIC\, and will feature impulse talks from the Systems Transformation Hub\, the Joint Research Centre’s Startup Village Forum initiative and the TA2030 Circular Rural Regions pilot action.  \n\n\n\nIt will be followed by an interactive discussion\, inviting the audience to share experiences and insights on rural policy\, entrepreneurship and circular economy practices\, showcasing how systems thinking and local innovation can align to boost resilience and competitiveness on the ground. \n\n\n\nThe session is part of the European Week of Regions and Cities. It is the biggest annual Brussels-based event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs\, implement European Union Cohesion policy\, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. The European Week of Regions and Cities is organised by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy and the European Committee of the Regions.
